How?

How did you enjoy your birthday cake?  

Pictures are worth a thousand words.  I don't think I could ever put into words the joy this picture gave me.  I wasn't able to attend the party, yet the picture made me a part of it.  If a story were to evolve around this picture it could go many directions.

 I wonder, when we write, whether the picture or the words should come first.  Authors indicate that it is a personal preference.  For me, usually words come first, yet I've carried around in my head pictures that one day will be a part of a story.  Definitely the pictures came first, about twenty years ago.  Keep you posted if there is progress, don't hold your breath.
